Local portraitist Scott Gentling
is working on a long-awaited — and fresh
— depiction of Fort Worth’s proudest
forefather.
By JEFF PRINCE
Nobody tooted this city’s
horn like Amon G. Carter, the wealthy founder
and publisher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram,
a guy whose political connections helped lure
government contracts for the city’s defense
industry and whose distaste for Dallas fueled
a longstanding rivalry. Read

As John James Audubon's Birds of America was the most
magnificent ornithological publication of the nineteenth
century, Of Birds and Texas may rightfully claim that
honor for the twentieth. Originally published in a twenty-three-by-twenty-nine-and-a-half-inch
elephant
folio limited edition in 1986(as seen to
the left), this collection of forty exquisitely detailed
bird portraits and ten Texas landscapes, with accompanying
commentary by the artists Scott Gentling and Stuart

What is a Giclée Print?
Giclée prints look and feel like the original
art. Since giclée printmaking is digital throughout
the entire process, there is much more control of color
and greater opportunity for the artist to correct any
colors or tones lost in the copy process. Colors are
much richer and more saturated than in other types of
printing. Prints are made as needed, on real artist
materials such as watercolor papers or canvas. Since
the prints are a combination of continuous tone and
stochastic screen patterns, it makes it difficult to
distinguish between giclée prints and the original
artwork. The Giclée process provides higher resolution
and more reproducible colors than other printmaking
techniques.
Because each print is made as needed it saves the artist
time and you money. You get a freshly made reproduction
that will last longer and of higher quality.
